Center Parc

If you are coming with children, this might be an alternative to either stay or as a day excursion. Center Parc is chain of activity complexes where you rent rooms or cottages and have access to lots of other activities and entertainment. The closest one, Les Bois-Francs, is located about 30 minutes from the trial site, near the charming city of Verneuil sur Avre on the N12 and offers, among other activities, a big aqua park and horseback riding.

About 25 minutes from the trial, direction West on the N12 and near the charming medieval town of Verneuil sur Avre, you find Chateau de la Puisaye run by Diana, fluent in English and French. A pricier but very classy alternative for those of you wanting to make your weekend here a real treat.

There are rooms in the chateau itself, and also a holiday cottage with 4 bedrooms, housing 8 persons.

If you say you come for the French Open, you will get a 10% discount on the charge.

Here we list a few different alternatives with regards to places to stay during the trial.

This is a little field that will be made available to you for parking and rough camping during the trial days. You find all the info about it here.

It is 450 meters walk from fields 1 and 2 (in the direction we're looking in this photo) and 500 meters from field 3 (behind us).
Toilets can be found at the fair ground and in the village; there are no toilets or running water on this field. There are proper camping grounds with all facilities 1.5 kilometres away, in the neighbouring villages. (See info to the right.)

The white building to the right in the photo above is the village school and further right of that you find the little village bar where you can get very basic necessities like bread, eggs etc, coffee in the morning, lunch around noon and a beer at night. The river is ahead of us.

  • Evreux, 20 minutes' drive North of the trial site

These are examples of establishments they recommend in Dreux:

A bit less than 30 minutes from the trial site, following the N12 Westbound, there is an old watermill turned into a charming guesthouse with 16 rooms. We haven't had anyone stay there yet, so please, if you do, let us know what you think!

This campsite is located in the village Vert-en-Drouais, about 2 km from the trial site.

Open year round for tents, caravans and campincars, with some caravans and mobile homes for rent.

They've set aside a greener area for French Open participants staying with them, and if you say you come from Caninature, or for the French Open, they'll give you a small rebate.

They speak English and French.

Camping
Pré de l'Eglise

This campsite is located in the village St Rémy sur Avre, about 1.5 km from the trial site.

It's closed in the winter but otherwise offers places for tents, caravans and camping cars. They are really well located near a very nice park with a pond and also just a few steps from the village with shops, bakeries, a few restaurants, post office, etc.

If you tell them you come for the French Open, your dog will stay for free and they have reserved a calm corner for us near the park and the water.

They speak English and French.
